Fieldwork

I have worked on a variety of marine biology research projects across the UK, especially in Scotland. In particular, I have experience in:

  • Identification of UK marine mammals, seabirds, and marine and brackish water invertebrates
  • Invertebrate surveys, sampling and specimen preservation techniques for saline lagoon and rocky shore habitats
  • Deployment of telemetry tags on grey and harbour seals
  • Boat-based line transect surveys of marine mammals, basking sharks and seabirds, including passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) of cetaceans
  • Small boat work (RYA Powerboat 2 and RYA Marine Radio (SRC) certified)
  • Fieldwork planning and logistics
  • Working in remote locations
